Can Eve support thousand ship battles, or is that a misrepresentation of the game's capabilities?
In the UK I think that may even be breaking the Trade Descriptions Act which states "The Trade Descriptions Act 1968 is an Act of the Parliament of the United Kingdom which prevents manufacturers, retailers or service industry providers from misleading consumers as to what they are spending their money on."
Discuss.
i have had similar thoughts about this if you offer a supscription service and then consistantly fail to provide it they usually start fining
who starts fining? -------------------------------------

i've been screaming for them to bannish pos warfare for ages, but then what would you do with dreadnaughts? They obviously didn't think it through enough tbh. -------------------------------------

If by infancy you mean 30 year old man living in his parent's basement, then yes, it is in its infancy. Over three years is far from infancy in MMOG years.
it's currently in its teens, getting stoned in its parents basement, which tbh never made me react any faster. lol, i remember walking through a busy city centre and was too stoned to see anybody, i thought i was totaly by myself. -------------------------------------

Originally by: Kerfira It would be nice to have major fleet battles without lag, but I honestly don't see it happening anytime soon....
Fair enough. Then CCP should stop advertising huge fleet battles as a feature of the game.
Out of interest, has a Dev Blog ever covered what causes the lag in large engagements, and what they are doing about it? CPU? Memory? Network Bandwidth?
it was the server, no wait, it was the pos, no wait its... errrrr it's that goat called scape.
we're all screwed -------------------------------------

Originally by: ApaKaka Bah. Just make Eve switch into board-game view when fleets exceed numbers of 200 and let FC's move their fleet around like pieces on a board. Don't even involve servers, graphics, jump-ins or whatever.
Make it a game of Go with real people's ships.
that removes the element of freedom where the FC can give a general command, but that might be a really bad idea for your specific ship, so you try to do whatever seems best that would compliment the FCs command for the other ships.
If you did that you'd just be sitting watching the FC move your ship about and wouldn't be doing much to get involved. -------------------------------------
